![]() Vacating columns are only important for King placement.Given a choice between a black or red King to fill a vacant column, first study the current game state and decide which King might be more useful. One case not to do so could be when it's crucial to vacate a column as soon as possible so that a King could be placed into it. When there is a choice, it's generally best to expose a hidden card in the pile that contains the most hidden cards. For example, perhaps the hidden card can only be made visible by sending an unsafe card to the Foundation. It's generally best to expose a hidden card when given the opportunity however, there can be exceptions. When there is a choice, it's generally better to move a card within the Tableau rather than from the Waste to the Tableau. For example, moving the Ten of Hearts from the Tableau into the Foundation reduces or removes any current or future opportunity to place a black Nine. Moving a card from the Tableau into the Foundation can affect mobility (the ability to move cards around). For example, if 5 of diamonds and 5 of hearts are already in the Foundation, it is safe to send 5 of spades to the Foundation. It is always safe to send a card of any rank from the Tableau to the Foundation as long as both cards previous in rank to it and of the opposite color are already in the Foundation. ![]() This is true for any card moved from the Waste. However, if the Ace or Two is in the Waste, care should be taken because removing a card can affect the order of the cards in the Stock, following initialization.
